Hello. I'm Chris Nash, and I live in Graaff-Reinet, a town that refuses to be forgotten in the Eastern Cape.
For over 20 years, I lived in IT. Programming. Networking. Hardware. Web design. The usual tech life. I was good at it. But somewhere after 2014, while I was supporting staff at Montego Pet Nutrition, I realised something: the best part of my job wasn't fixing computers. It was helping people learn how to use them better.
That small realisation changed everything.
How I Got Here
In 2022, Montego asked me to lead the Academy — an LMS that was sitting there, underused, waiting for someone to care about it. I cared. We went from struggling with engagement to training 97% of our staff. We built video content. We listened to learners. We made learning actually work.
Now I'm the Skills Development Facilitator here. I manage Workplace Skills Plans and Annual Training Reports for AgriSETA and W&R SETA. I run learnerships and internships. I build training from scratch. I work with nearly 1 000 employees every day.
But here's what matters: I'm still learning too.
What I'm Doing Now
Vice-Chair of the Eastern Cape Region for the Association for Skills Development in South Africa — because I believe in lifting the entire skills community, not just my corner of it.
Committee member at Montego Cares — our charity arm touches hundreds of lives. I show up for that.
Assistant Troop Scouter and PRO for 1st Graaff-Reinet Scouts — the organisation that shaped me as a young person. Now I'm giving back.
Student — still chasing my Assessor and Facilitator modules. Education theory fascinates me. Adult learning, especially.
Husband and stepfather — married in May 2024. Life got beautifully more complex.
What I Actually Do
I help people learn. That's the core of it.
Whether that's developing training programmes, solving technical headaches, mentoring someone figuring out their next move, or writing about skills development on my blog — I'm trying to unlock potential. In others. In systems. In communities.
I'm fluent in English and Afrikaans. I can build you a website. I can digitise a paper process. I can create content that actually sticks. But mostly, I just show up and ask: What do people need to learn, and how can I help them get there?
